Preparing expert opinions is the core activity of the Expert Institute. The character of an expert opinion depends on the purpose for which it is produced. The institute’s experts must be licensed for the subject of the expert opinion (the activity which is to be evaluated by an expert). The expert licences of Znalecký a oceňovací ústav s.r.o. cover a wide range of activities.
On 18 August, 2000 the expert institute was registered pursuant to Section 21 (3) of Act No. 36/1967 Coll. on Experts and Interpreters, and the provisions of Section 6 (1) of Regulation No. 37/1967 Coll., as amended, in the first part of the list of institutes qualified for expert activities for expert opinions required by state authorities and self-regulatory bodies. A resolution of the Ministry of Justice was issued under reg. No. 155/2000 – Zn and was published in the Official Bulletin of the Czech Republic. On the basis of this Resolution the expert institute received an expert licence for the following fields and specializations.
- On the other hand, evaluation is a discipline that is not governed by the Act on Experts and Interpreters and this service can be provided through a Trade Licence. The range of services is wide.

Appraisals
Appraising assets at market prices is an independent expert discipline which is needed more frequently than standard expert opinions. Specifying a standard price is often the initial starting point for the law on valuing assets. The expert institute, through its trade licences or by cooperation with other subjects, provides the most important types of market valuations for all commercial purposes.
